Water Wise PSE Campaign

The Water Wise Campaign was a public safety education initiative developed in partnership with the nonprofit The Rising Tide Effect and funded by the Artemis Rising Foundation. Created in response to the ongoing drowning crisis along New York City beaches, the campaign focused on rip current awareness and the dangers of swimming when lifeguards are not on duty.

The campaign ran for five weeks across New York City, appearing on subways, buses, ferries, LINK NYC kiosks, the PSA Network, social media, and connected TV (CTV). During the campaign period, there were zero drownings, compared to previous years when an average of one to three drownings occurred during the same timeframe.

The campaign demonstrated the power of targeted public education to change behavior and save lives.
